Sometimes we forget how different we train from most until we hang out with people who don’t train like us.

Just the other day, I was questioned by a client about my training philosophy.

“Everything you’re telling me right now is the opposite of what I’ve been told.”

“I hate you right now,” she said out of breath. “Everything you’re telling me right now is the opposite of what I’ve been told.”

Her comment wasn’t made condescendingly. What I was doing was forcing her to rethink everything she thought about fitness, and what it meant to train like an athlete. By the end of the session, she joked she was going to hate me the next day because she was, “already feeling it.”

Our session together was a fresh reminder of how different our mentality is about training. At the very core of our philosophy, we believe hard work to be the cure to all things. We aren’t scared to work hard and get uncomfortable for the sake of newfound fitness.

As we are confronted with the hot and humid heat of the summer never lose sight of how far you’ve come. If it were easy, everyone would do it. And if that were the case, it wouldn’t make us much different at all.
