Complaining About My Rich People Problems

“Perspective is the way we see things when we look at them from a certain distance, and it allows us to appreciate their true value.”

After not seeing a client of mine for over a week she asked me how I was doing. I quickly jumped into how busy grad school was keeping me, how I was working a lot and, that I didn’t get to train as much as I wanted to last week.

Listening to myself out loud I noticed I was complaining about things others would only dream about. Going to grad school. Owning a business. Exercising consistently.

These are rich people problems. I say that as a joke because the reality is I shouldn’t be complaining.

The honest truth is that obesity rates continue to rise, 50% of small business owners fail within the first five years, and 40 million Americans have college debt. Those are real problems.

The reality is obesity rates continue to rise, 50% of small business owners fail within the first five years  and 40 million Americans have college doubt (I don’t). These are real problems.

When I step back and reflect on what I’m complaining about, I can’t help but be grateful for my amazing life. I was reminded yesterday to give thanks for everything I have for it is impossible to feel grateful and depressed at the same time.
