“Sometimes you never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
This weekend we finally moved into our new house!
With that comes mutual feelings of excitement for our new home and feelings of sadness leaving behind all the memories of our previous home.
In our previous home, we got engaged, married, and had our first child. We learned how to be parents to a newborn, experienced our first hurricane as homeowners, and walked more laps around our community than I can count.
The feeling I got locking the front door for the last time was one I’ve come across a handful of times already in my life. I had this feeling when I moved away from Naples at 18 years old, when I got shipped off to the military, and when I graduated college.
When you’re it the moment, doing life, you don’t realize you’re creating these lasting memories until its finally over. It’s not until it becomes a part of your past when you are able to view it as a cherished memory. These transitions never get easier.
It’s the surreal reality that a chapter of your life is officially closing and a new one is beginning. It’s exciting and sad all at the same time.
Which is why I believe it’s so important to cherish every moment. Happiness is so fragile. Appreciate every moment and do everything you can to protect it.
