My selfish reason for buying life insurance

Not only is my wife way younger than me. #trophywife. I’ve done so many stupid things to my body when I was younger that there’s no way I’m going to make it into my 80’s.

My wife, on the other hand, hasn’t even smoked a cigarette. Not even third-hand smoke! She’s definitely going to outlive me. These are the facts and I’m okay with that.

In the instance, I die before my kids are old enough to take care of themselves I want to know that financially they don’t have to worry.  I take a lot of pride in knowing that I’m responsible for providing for my family. But if I die too soon that puts my family in a precarious situation. Which is why I chose to buy $500,000 in life insurance.

I want to know that if my wife does remarry that she finds someone who truly cares for her and my kids the way I do. Having money BUYS her the time she needs to make those choices. Not based on fear but on love.

So yes buying life insurance is selfish and I’m okay with that.
